About Antigua & Barbuda

The largest English-speaking leeward island of the Caribbean, and with a past steeped in maritime glory, Antigua's historic character is evident today from the baroque towers of St. John's Cathedral, to the site of Admiral Lord Nelson's Georgian Dockyard. With abundant reefs, shipwrecks, and marinas, the island offers great opportunities for diving, snorkeling, and sailing, as well as windsurfing, deep-sea sport fishing and water-skiing. Visitors can also experience true local flavor whether haggling at the vibrant public market or celebrating with locals at the weekly sunset party in Shirley Heights.

Did you know that the island of Antigua boasts 365 beaches, one for each day of the year?

Just off the coast of Antigua is its sister island of Barbuda. Accessible by boat or a twenty-minute flight, the island of only 1500 inhabitants is indeed an ecological gem fringed by pink coral sand. Underdeveloped and seemingly deserted, the island is home to a Frigate Bird colony (said to be the largest in the world), while also having its share of wild boar and Fallow deer.

With two of Antigua's resorts making Condé Nast's Gold List 2006 and one in Barbuda making its Hot List Hotels, the country has earned its reputation as the "home of the Über all-inclusive, where the rich, famous ... indulge in blue-chip pampering."*
